Karin & Chris – Colorado Mountain Ranch & Rembrandt Yard Wedding

Karin and Chris held their Colorado wedding at Colorado Mountain Ranch above Boulder near Gold Hill on a beautiful, sunny August day. Eric, Moni and I were all  there to capture their wedding day with our cameras. Heather Dwight of Calluna Events kept the flow going smoothly for a perfect day. After cocktails  on the deck we moved to Rembrandt Yard in Boulder for dinner and dancing. The yummy cake is from Shamane’s Bake Shoppe and the vibrant and scrumptious flowers are from Design Event Décor.  Karin used the contrasting colors of red and yellow for a lively feel. The bridesmaids wore cocktail length red dresses with a bouquet of yellow flowers and Karen carried a bouquet of brilliant red. On the cake Karin used the “bride and groom” her grandparents and her parents had at their wedding. At each table as part of the centerpiece black and white pictures of the couple growing up were placed and each table depicting a different year. Colorado Mountain Ranch offered their out-of-town guests a real Colorado experience while Rembrandt Yard offers an elegant urban art gallery feel. The contrast was perfect.

Andrea and Guillermo’s wonderful Oaxacan wedding

Oaxaca, Mexico is a beautiful city filled with the arts, some of the best cuisine anywhere and many incredible traditions. Eric was an exchange student in Oaxaca in high school and has remained in close contact with many friends there. Eric and Moni recently traveled to Oaxaca to photograph the wedding of Andrea and Guillermo. They brought along their 18 month old daughter, Sydney who absolutely embraced both traveling and the people of Oaxaca. She made a number of friends while they were there and picked up some Spanish. She continues to say ‘hola’ to everyone back here in Denver.

There are a few differences in photographing a Mexican wedding compared to a wedding here in the states. For example, although Mexico is a largely Catholic country, the ceremony in the church isn’t legally valid so following each church wedding there is a second ceremony with an official. Andrea and Guillermo had their wedding in one of Oaxaca’s beautiful and historic churches, Templo de San Matías Jalatlaco, followed with an open-air reception at one of the city’s very stylish and modern restaurants, Grill Dos28. The civil ceremony was performed at the start of the reception. In keeping with Oaxacan custom it was an especially festive wedding. The couple exited the church to a sea of sparklers held by the guests, and the first dance was accented by a fireworks display just behind the happy couple.

We recommend traveling to Oaxaca both as a destination for your wedding or simply for exploring the area with its wealth of arts, cuisine, scenery and connection to ancient cultures and traditions.

Jenny and Jon’s wedding was featured in the New York Times!

We were thrilled to see that some of our photos from Jenny and Jon’s wedding were recently featured in the New York Times as well as in several online publications!

The wedding week started off with a stylish engagement session with the couple decked out in wedding attire at a local Gunther Toody’s along with some fun shots in a nearby bowling alley. The combination made for some spectacular photographs. The wedding was at Aish followed by the reception at the Hyatt Regency in the Denver Tech Center.  It was an extremely festive party with everyone dancing to the sounds of one of our favorite Denver bands, Soul-X.

Here are a couple of fun facts: Jon first caught Jenny’s eye while riding a subway in NYC. She decided to get off at the same stop, introduced herself, and the rest is history. Also, Jenny selected her grandmother to be one of her bridesmaids and she looked stunning.

Jenny and Jon are such a great couple, and we really had a wonderful time photographing all the festivities!

Liz and Wade’s Vail Wedding at the Larkspur Lawn and Four Seasons Vail

We had a blast photographing Liz and Wade’s beautiful wedding up in Vail.  They are wonderful individuals and such a fun couple!   We photographed their wedding on the Larkspur lawn followed by a wonderful reception at the new Four Seasons Vail.  Those are both gorgeous venues and the day couldn’t have been more perfect.  We had quite a bit of rain during the week, but fortunately it was sunny and beautiful during the ceremony!  We also photographed their engagement session up in Vail during a winter snowstorm, and at that time we all decided it would be fun to stroll around downtown a bit and capture some great photographs of the two of them on their wedding day.  Here are some of the photographs from the wedding ceremony and that walk around Vail with the newlyweds.

Hilary and Matt’s elegant wedding at the Denver Four Seasons

It was such fun photographing Hilary and Matt’s stunning wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Denver.  We already knew it would be great after spending time with them up in Vail for their engagement session earlier in the year.  The are such a sweet couple, so relaxed and thoughtful, and we always have a great time photographing them!  Alisa Zapiler of Creative Events & Occasions did a fantastic job planning the wedding.  The ceremony had a chic,  modern, and luxurious look and feel that was unlike any we had seen before.  The reception was simply spectacular with wonderful flowers by  Newberry Brothers.  Here is a small sampling of photographs from throughout the day.

Kelly & Brian’s magical wedding

Kelly and Brian are such a sweet couple, and their wedding was just like a fairytale.  We met Kelly over at the Ritz-Carlton where she was getting ready, and while there we stopped for four or five minutes to capture some photos of her in her stunning Vera Wang gown under the chandelier.  The day was incredible start to finish with the ceremony at Holy Ghost followed by the reception at the Denver Art Museum.  This was an especially fun one for me (Eric) as I worked as a photographer for the DAM throughout most of the 1990’s!  It takes a team to put a such an event.  Alisa Zapiler and her team at Creative Events and Occasions planned and coordinated the wedding. Design Works did an absolutely amazing job with the decor as did Newberry Brothers with the flowers.  Occasions by Sandy catered the wonderful food and Gateaux created a beautiful cake.  The reception was rocking to the incredible sounds of Jakarta.  Confetti Magazine loved the first image so much they ran it on the cover.
